Palmyra Sukhneh Syrian Heritage Wedding Dress and EmbroiderdCostume Coats

I have collected this type of silk embroidery for over forty years now. The heavily embroidered long coats, dresses, and skirts are Trousseau articles of clothing and less embroidered pieces were for daily use. On my my YouTube channel I published the collection featuring six skirts and over four of the coats and two dresses all of this Oasis called Sukhneh inside Queen Zenobia’s kingdom during the Roman times.

Full video featuring the Hama Silkworm Vintage Syrian Heritage Dresses and how they are made now available on YouTube. I managed to collect seven of these Hama Syria Dresses but they have disappeared for good. They are a labor of love and were included in the trousseau of brides to be in the city of Hama in Syria. The cocoons and the mulberry trees have gone for good but the story about these dresses lives on.

Brocade Coats And Floral Jackets For Weddings

Adding a beautiful statement brocade coat topper or jacket to your closet is the best investment in the coming years.

The quality and novelty of a rich looking textile matters, softness matters, and of course the fit. My advice is to purchase a brocade coat or novelty fabric jacket that is versatile, a topper that will work for you all week not just for one event. I wear my brocade jackets all day long over jeans and a simple blouse paired with fun flats to keep the look casual. If you are a wedding guest wear a nice brocade topper over one of the many simple items in your closet and have fun with the shoes and accessories. You will look stylish and stay warm when the sun sets.

Brocade For Breakfast ...

From the first time-moment I watched The Sound Of Music movie at age nine I instantly knew that fabric is a free thinking marvelous thing I couldn’t do without. The idea that Maria could free the Von Trapp children by simply cutting up her tapestry drapes and making the children pattern play clothing gave me a creative license and something clicked in my head. Fabric has many functions and like Maria I can do whatever I want with it too.

Brocade is my favorite textile category and if all fabric disappeared on this earth but only it survived I would be most grateful. To the touch brocade has substance but soft and fine. Visually It has a rich emotion just looking at the flowers and petals breathing in and out just so beautifully, it can take you to a lovely place in your head and feeling so well dressed-so prepared for anything it would almost complete you. It is fantastic in a dress better in a floral jacket even a topper coat basically all day long breakfast, lunch and dinner. From desk to cocktails it is the new second skin and rich textiles are here to stay.

Brocade For Breakfast

You know the feeling? Luxurious textures near your face in glowing brocade flora. For many women like myself this throwback to vintage everything, longing for a more gentle pace of life, the lust for beauty in everything and the art of pursuing it? Well for me these emotions are all whirling inside my head twenty four hours a day all week long including my days out of my design studios. I search for people like myself constantly and sometimes I do find one or a half here and there. In the meantime I talk to my revolving collections of French Brocades and cut them one by one sending them out into the world wrapped in tulle for just the right moment when a woman’s world feels like everything is finally coming together..
