This video shows how the Christian and Muslim village and town dwellers in the area of Qalamoun Syria, absorbed and incorporated other ethnicities, traditional folklore, and adornment into a brand representing the Qalamoun Syrian costume identity. From Armenia motifs to Cretan, and Albania to Bulgarian.

Although the Arabic traditional sheath dress was never replaced, the influence of refugees coming across from the Balkan Peninsula and especilly the Armenians escapping the Ottomans, presented the ancient Syrians with new ideas in adornment and what we call today “a fashion opportunity ”.
